Additional Faculty Development and Opportunities outside of Framingham State University
FSU has been a founding member of the New England Board of Higher Education’s (NEBHE) North Star Collective, a group of colleges and universities in the New England region that are committed to transforming their institutions and uplifting BIPOC faculty. We are starting our third year in this important initiative, thanks to President Niemi for supporting our membership within NSC.
You might be eligible to apply for the North Star Collective (NSC) Faculty Fellowship, a semester-long fellowship in Spring 2024. The NSC promotes healing and repair for early career BIPOC faculty in New England by providing a nurturing community of care, mentorship, and professional development.

Included in the fellowship:
- $1,500 grant
- Writing events
- Virtual meetings and workshops
- Community building and networking activities
- A closing colloquium
Eligibility criteria:
Self-identifying BIPOC faculty (Black/African/African American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native/ Indigenous, Arab/Middle Eastern, Asian/ Asian American/Pacific Islander, and Multiracial), who:
- Have a doctorate or terminal degree (terminal degree is new this year)
- Are non-tenured junior faculty in their first five years of teaching at a NSC Member Institution, including:
- full-time tenure-track faculty
- full-time recently tenured faculty
- full-time temporary faculty
- visiting lecturers
- part-time and adjunct faculty
- Have scholarship and teaching in any discipline (including all disciplines is new this year)
Application requirements:
- CV
- A personal statement (more details in the attached file)
- Writing sample (20-30 pages)
